JAKARTA - President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that the cities and villages that were captured again from Russian forces were destroyed, while a missile strike was damaged and affected several regions.

Kryvyi Rih, the largest city in central Ukraine with an estimated population before the war of 650,000, was hit by eight cruise missiles on Wednesday, officials said.

The attack hit the Karachunov reservoir dam, President Zelensky said in a video speech released Thursday morning.

"The water system has no military value and hundreds of thousands of civilians depend on it every day," President Zelensky said.

Ukraine says the attack was revenge by Russia for its recent counter-attack.

"You are weak people who fight civilians. You are trying to hurt yourself from afar," President Zelensky criticized, citing the BBC.

The water broke through the dam and overflowed along the riverbanks, flooding several houses, officials said.

Meanwhile, Oleksandr Vilkul, head of military administration Krivyi Rih, said that in an upload on telegram, 112 houses were flooded.

He added that the flood had receded and the dam repairs work on the Inhutles River was ongoing.

He said water supplies were affected by attacks in the city, which had a population of more than 600,000 people before the war.

Russia itself denies deliberately targeting civilians, in a special military operation held in Ukraine.

It is known that Ukrainian forces are in positive momentum after successfully pushing back the Russian army to the border in Kharkhiv in recent days. Similar conditions also occurred in Kherson, although the progress was slower.
