KPK Names Papuan Governor Lukas Enembe Corruption Suspect

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that it has named Papuan Governor Lukas Enembe as a suspect. It has not been revealed what case ensnared him, but the investigation is still ongoing.

"The KPK has indeed named LE as a suspect and the investigation process is ongoing", said KPK Deputy Chairman, Alexander Marwata, at a press conference held at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, September 14.

Alexander said that Lukas was named a suspect based on public reports and information received by the anti-corruption commission.

These two things have also become a tool for the KPK to designate the inactive Central Mamberamo Regent Ricky Ham Pagawak as a suspect.

"The determination of the suspect RHP and the Governor of LE is to follow up on public reports and also information received by the KPK", said Alexander.

"It has been a long time since the KPK has received information from the Papuan people regarding corrupt practices and infrastructure development there", he continued.

It was previously reported that Papuan Governor Lukas Enembe had been prevented from going abroad for six months. The Directorate General of Immigration said that the KPK asked for prevention.

"Directorate of Immigration Supervision and Enforcement of the Directorate General of Immigration received a prevention application to the subject on behalf of Lukas Enembe", said Surya in a written statement, Monday, September 12.

This prevention request was submitted by the KPK on Wednesday, September 7 last. Luke was then prevented until March 7, 2023.

The case against Luke is not yet known. Even so, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) had attempted to summon and examine him some time ago, but he was not present due to illness.
