JAKARTA - North Korea released a new propaganda poster, featuring a nuclear-ile ballistic missile, state media reported on Tuesday, doing so for the first time in years, after Pyongyang set up its nuclear policy in a law last week.

Two posters featuring missiles included among the released posters, to encourage North Koreans to implement the goals outlined by leader Kim Jong-un in a policy speech last week, state news agency KCNA reported.

The posts underscore the need to "make the Republican armed forces stronger, by giving priority to the development of national defense capacity."

This is the first time in about five years a new poster has featured nuclear weapons, according to the NK News website.

In 2018, North Korea removed many anti-American and military-themed posters, as Kim engaged in a summit with then US President Donald Trump and other world leaders.

Since diplomacy stalled in 2019, the theme of anti-American history has returned to public display.

Photos released by KCNA show the posters don't mention the United States, but display a number of North Korea's newest missiles, including the Hwasong-15 and Hwasong-17 (ICBM) intercontinental ballistic missiles.

The posts contain slogans calling for national defense to be a top priority nationally, with missiles demonstrating the country's prosperity.

This year North Korea is continuing its ICBM testing for the first time since 2017, and international observers say it appears to be preparing for a nuclear test.

Other posters feature various economic sectors including forestry, fisheries, construction and consumer goods.

North Korea has perpetuated the right to use preemptive nuclear attacks, to protect itself in new laws that Kim says make its nuclear status "unchangeable" and prohibit denuclearization talks, KCNA reported on Friday.
