Minister Edhy Prabowo Got OTT, KKP Is Still Waiting For KPK Official Information

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is still waiting for official information from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding the arrest of Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Edhy Prabowo.

Edhy was secured by the KPK upon arrival at Soekarno Hatta Airport after a working visit to the United States, on Wednesday, November 25, in the early hours of the morning. KPK investigators immediately led Edhy and 16 other people, including his wife, Iis Rosita Dewi, to be questioned.

"We are still waiting for official information from the KPK regarding the current condition," said KKP Secretary General Antam Novambar, in a written statement received by VOI, Wednesday, November 25.

Furthermore, Antam emphasized that the KKP appreciated the legal process that was being carried out at this anti-rasuah institution. Regarding legal assistance in this case, the CTF will follow the applicable procedures and regulations.

Antam also asked the public not to speculate regarding the ongoing legal process.

"Let's wait together with the official information. And let law enforcers work professionally," he explained.

For your information, in the arrest of Minister Edhy and 16 people including his wife, Iis Rosita Dewi, the KPK helped secure a number of evidence. One of them is a debit card that is suspected of being related to a corruption case related to the process of determining a prospective lobster seed exporter.

"Also secured are a number of items, including ATM debit cards that are suspected of being linked to corruption and are currently being inventoried by the team," said Acting KPK spokesman for prosecution Ali Fikri to reporters in a written statement, Wednesday, November 25.

Meanwhile, regarding Minister Edhy and his wife as well as a number of people who were arrested, they are currently still in an intensive investigation process. "Currently, the KPK is still conducting an intensive examination of the 17 people for 1x24 hours," he said.

"We will convey the development further," added Ali.

Regarding the hand-arrest operation (OTT) of Minister Edhy Prabowo, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) also spoke up. Jokowi emphasized that he respects the ongoing legal process. Jokowi does not want the government to intervene in Edhy's investigation regarding the alleged corruption in the lobster seed export.

"Of course, we respect the legal process that is currently underway at the KPK. We respect it," said Jokowi in a YouTube broadcast of the Presidential Secretariat, Wednesday, November 25.

Jokowi then emphasized that the KPK was working professionally. "I believe that the KPK works transparently, openly, professionally. The government consistently supports efforts to prevent and eradicate corruption," he said.
