BANYUMAS - Banyumas City Police Narcotics Investigation Unit (Polresta) confiscated hundreds of illegal drugs from a mobile phone counter (HP) in Bantarsoka Village, Banyumas Regency, Central Java.
"In addition to confiscating hundreds of illegal drugs, we arrested the perpetrator with the initials EA (21), a resident of Pasirmuncang Village, West Purwokerto District, Banyumas," said Banyumas Police Chief Commissioner Edy Suranta Sitepu accompanied by Head of the Narcotics Unit Adjunct Police Commissioner Guntar Arif Setiyoko, quoted by Antara, Sunday, September 11.
According to him, the case was uncovered thanks to reports from residents who were suspicious of activities at a mobile phone counter located on Jalan Sokajati, Bantarsoka Village, West Purwokerto District, on Saturday, September 3.
Based on the report, Banyumas Police Narcotics Unit officers immediately conducted an investigation into the cellphone counter which is suspected to be used frequently to transact illegal drugs.
"After mapping and investigating, it turned out that the public information was correct, so we arrested the perpetrator who was an employee of the cellphone counter on Thursday, September 8," added Head of the Narcotics Unit AKP Guntar Arif Setiyoko.
During a search of the cellphone counter, he said, his party received 300 Aprazolam pills worth Rp. 6,000,000 and one unit of the Redmi 10 cellphone used by the perpetrator as a means of communication.
According to him, the perpetrator and the evidence were immediately taken to the Banyumas Police Narcotics Unit Office for further examination.
"The perpetrator was charged with the alleged existence of a psychotropic crime as referred to and regulated in Article 62 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 5 of 1997 concerning Psychotropics," said AKP Guntar.
Asked about the possibility of the connection between the perpetrators of EA and a number of psychotropic cases that were successfully uncovered by the Banyumas Police Narcotics Unit in recent times, Kasatresnarkoba said that his party was still investigating because the perpetrators were known to have received these illegal drugs from Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan.
He admitted that of the three psychotropic cases that were successfully uncovered in September 2022, all of them were illegal drugs sent from Banjarmasin. Meanwhile, in August 2022 there were three psychotropic cases whose goods were from Bali.
"The delivery is through packages, such as clothes that are overtaken by psychotropics. We are still mapping to find out where the factory was sent or what," said Kasatresnarkoba.
