JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) asked the public to be aware of the potential for extreme weather for one week starting from September 10 to 16, 2022.

This was revealed based on the latest analysis of atmospheric dynamics by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The BMKG has identified the potential for an increase in rainfall with heavy intensity which can be accompanied by lightning or lightning and strong winds in the next week in the DKI Jakarta area.

"The BMKG provides an early warning that there is the potential for extreme weather in the form of heavy rain which can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds and high waves. The potential for heavy rain is predicted to occur in the DKI Jakarta area," wrote BPBD DKI Jakarta on the Instagram account @bpbddkijakarta.

BPBD DKI revealed that this condition was triggered by an increase in atmospheric dynamics activities, such as the active Madden Julian Oscillation (MJO), which is currently in phase 3 around the Indian Ocean and shows a significant contribution to the formation of rain clouds in Indonesian territory.

This condition is also reinforced by atmospheric wave phenomena, namely the Kelvin and Rossby Equatorial waves which are quite active in several areas.

BPDB DKI continued, the existence of a low pressure pattern that triggered the formation of piles and wind bends was also strengthened by the influence of air liabilities on a local scale.

"The public is advised to remain alert to the potential for extreme weather that could potentially cause hydrometeorological disasters in the form of floods, puddles, landslides, strong winds, fallen trees," he explained.

Lebih lanjut, untuk mencegah tersendatnya aktivitas akibat munculnya genangan air, BPDB DKI mengingatkan masyarakatmemantau informasi banjir terkini melalui situs https://pantaubanjir.jakarta.go.id/peta-banjir-berbasiskan-rt.
