JAKARTA - Executive Director of the Police Strategic Studies Institute (Lemkapi) Dr Edi Hasibuan said it was impossible for the three Regional Police Chiefs to intervene in the Special Police Team to investigate the murder of Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat alias Brigadier J.

Speculation that stated that the three Regional Police Chief intervened with the Head of the Special Police Team, namely the General Supervision Inspector (Irwasum) Komjen Pol Agung Budi Maryoto and the Head of the Criminal Investigation Agency (Kabareskrim) Komjen Pol Agus Andrianto, did not make sense.

"This is irrational. Irwasum and Kabareskrim are the superiors of these three Regional Police Chiefs. So it is very unlikely that they will intervene in the Special Team of the Police," said Edi in a written statement, quoted from Antara, Sunday, September 11.

This academic from Bhayangkara University of Jakarta asked all parties to stop conveying illegal speculations linking the three Regional Police Chiefs to the case of the former Head of the Professional and Security Division (Propam) of the National Police Inspector General Pol Ferdy Sambo who is a suspect in the murder of Brigadier J.

Edi also appreciated the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Pol Edi Prasetyo for confirming that there were no Regional Police Chiefs related to the murder at the Kadiv Propam official residence, Duren Tiga, South Jakarta, July 8, 2022.

"The explanation of the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police is appropriate so that this issue does not go wild everywhere. This is important to maintain the dignity of the police in the community," he said.

Currently, said Edi, the Police continue to make various improvements and focus on preparing the murder file against Brigadier J.

He believes that the National Police Chief, General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, will continue to make various efforts and improvements to regain public trust.

"Believe me that the Special Team formed by the National Police Chief will work professionally according to the direction of President Joko Widodo," he said.

The deaths of Brigadier J dragged five suspects, namely Ferdy Sambo, Bharada Richard pudihang Lumiu alias Bharada E, Bripka Ricky Rizal, Kuwat Ma'ruf and Putri Chandrawathi (Ferdy Sambo's wife).

Bharada E received protection from the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) for being a "justice collaborator" or perpetrator who cooperates with law enforcement to uncover cases.

The National Police also detained seven officers as suspects in obstructing the investigation into the death of Brigadier J. Dozens of police were taken to a code of ethics and discipline hearing for allegedly violating case handling procedures.
