JAKARTA - The Bank of England says its banknote featuring the image of Queen Elizabeth remains valid, following the king's death on Thursday.
"Current paper money featuring the image of His Majesty Queen will continue to be legal tender," the central bank said.
"Further announcements regarding existing Bank of England banknotes will be made after the mourning period is observed," the central bank continued.
Queen Elizabeth II is the first king to appear on a bank of England papernote.
"With deep sadness, I know the death of the Queen. On behalf of everyone in the bank, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the Royal Family," said Governor Andrew Bailey.
As previously reported, Queen Elizabeth II, Britain's longest-serving king, died at Balmoral Castle, Scotland at the age of 96 yesterday afternoon, citing the BBC. She has ruled Great Britain for 70 years.
