Fadel Muhammad: La Nyalla Mattalitti Menzalimi I With Unpleasant Actions

JAKARTA - Fadel Muhammad reported that the Chairman of the DPD RI, La Nyalla Mattalitti, of the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the National Police, because he did not accept being dismissed from the position of Deputy Chairperson of the MPR RI from the DPD element. According to Fadel, his dismissal at the DPD plenary meeting was an arbitrary act by La Nyalla. Moreover, there is no clear reason why he was revoked as the chairman of the MPR from the DPD element. "La Nyalla Mattalitti persecuted me with an unpleasant act, and finally issued a decree asking me to be dismissed or replaced in the language of the plenary meeting. It was dismissed for unclear reasons," Fadel said at a press conference at the DPR Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, September 9th. Fadel admitted that until now he had never been spoken to by La Nyalla regarding his dismissal. Fadel also suspected that there was another motive behind La Nyalla's decision to dismiss him as deputy chairman of the MPR. "I saw that there was a personal desire for political interests. And then he processed through a process that in my opinion the legal process was illegal, and against the law," he said. Therefore, Fadel decided to fight back by taking legal steps against La Nyalla's decision. This resistance, he said, was in order to maintain the dignity of high state institutions. Including, reporting La Nyalla to the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the Police. Fadel claimed the report had been received by the police. He also admitted that he had been questioned by the Criminal Investigation Department twice. "I also reported him to the police with unpleasant actions and my good name," said Fadel. "And I also process with the Honorary Board in the DPD, because in the DPD itself there is an honorary body that must be passed," he added. Previously, DPD Chairman La Nyalla Mattalitti said that one of the agendas in the plenary session last Thursday was the delivery of a vote of no confidence regarding the desire of the majority of DPD members to withdraw Fadel from the position of deputy chairman of the MPR. "In the 13th Plenary Session of the DPD RI during the V Session of the 2021-2022 Session Year, it was decided that the vote of not believing would be forwarded to the Honorary Board and the DPD RI group," said La Nyalla. The senator from East Java said that the members who signed the no-confidence motion increased from 91 to 97 members. After that, the DPD leadership decided to agree on the withdrawal of Fadel from the position of deputy chairman of the MPR. "So the leadership of the DPD RI at this session agreed on the withdrawal. For this reason, in this trial we need to elect the Deputy Chairperson of the MPR from the DPD RI to fill the vacancy in that position," said La Nyalla. DPD RI then held a vote to determine the replacement for Fadel with four candidates proposed by each sub-region namely Abdullah Puteh (Aceh), Bustami Zainuddin (Lampung), Tamsil Linrung (South Sulawesi), and Yorrys Raweyai (Papua). Finally, by pocketing 39 votes, Tamsil Linrung was decided as deputy chairman of the MPR, the DPD RI envoy to replace Fadel Muhammad's position. The vote was attended by 96 members of the DPR where Bustami won 21 votes, Yorrys (19 votes), Puteh (14), 2 invalid votes, and 1 abstain.
