JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said that the subsidized increase in fuel oil (BBM) prices required the DKI Provincial Government to increase the nominal subsidy to BUMD PT Transjakarta from the APBD.

Syafrin calculated that the public service obligation (PSO) budget would increase by Rp6.21 billion. The PSO to Transjakarta this year amounted to Rp3.2 trillion.

The addition of this subsidy is for operational payments for public transport operators that have been integrated with the Jaklingko system.

"The need for subsidies as a result of fuel (up) for bus operations managed by Transjakarta, we calculate around Rp. 62.1 billion. Starting on the 3rd, the cost component for subsidy payments has automatically entered the operator," Syafrin told reporters, Friday, September 9.

Given the addition of subsidies to Transjakarta, Syafrin ensures that transportation modes that are integrated into Jaklingko systems such as Transjakarta BRT and non-BRT, Minitrans, and Microtrans do not increase their rates.

"All Transjakarta tariffs or those who are already members of the Jaklingko program do not increase, still. The tariff is still IDR 3,500," he said.

Meanwhile, regular public transportation such as public transportation will definitely increase the tariff on passengers. Syafrin said DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan would increase the angkot passenger fare by Rp1,000. The tariff for angkot, which was previously Rp. 5,000, is now Rp. 6,000.

"For the regular tariff, this morning I have received the DTKJ recommendation addressed to the Governor. There is a proposal to increase 1000 rupiah. So, the tariff is IDR 5,000, so they propose an increase of IDR 1,000 to IDR 6000," said Syafrin.

Syafrin said that the increase in the angkot tariff would take effect after Anies issued a governor's decision (kepgub).

The increase in this tariff was determined based on the results of a study from the Jakarta City Transportation Council (DTKJ) consisting of elements from the DKI Transportation Agency, transportation experts, academics, transportation users, the police, to regular public transport operators.

"They (DTKJ) have discussed, plenary meetings, and that is what is proposed and the decision will be made by the governor's decision. We hope that this week can be completed," said Syafrin.
