23 Conditional Free Corruptors, Deputy Minister Of Law And Human Rights: In Accordance With Law Regulation Number 22 Of 2022

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights (Wamenkumham) Eddy Hiariej said the parole of convicts of corruption or corruption was in accordance with the rules.

The conditional release of dozens of prisoners who become public servants refers to Law Number 22/2022 concerning Corrections.

"Private release, remission, assimilation, and the rights of convicts referring to Law No. 22/2022, they are all in accordance with the rules," said Eddy at the Jakarta Presidential Palace, quoted from Antara, Thursday, September 8.

This was conveyed by Eddy in response to 23 parole-free corruption convicts from August 2022 to September 6, 2022.

He emphasized that the provision of parole to prisoners was only based on existing regulations.

According to him, Law Number 22 of 2022 returns all the rights of a convict without discrimination.

"It's a positive law. So we give according to the rules," he said.

The 23 convicts who were released from condition include 4 inmates from the Tangerang Class II prison, 19 other inmates from the Sukamiskin Class I Prison.

Of the 23 names, there was the name Pinangki Sirna Malasari, the prosecutor who was charged with accepting bribes from Djoko Tjandra in order to escape his prison sentence. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison in court, but the high court gave him a lighter sentence, only 4 years in prison and a fine of Rp600 million.
