Deputy for Coordination and Supervision of the KPK Inspector General Didik Agung Wijanarko said the takeover of this case was due to the ineffective handling of the alleged corruption case by the NTT Police, which had been handled since 2018. “ The handling of this case will be more effective if it is taken over by the KPK,” he told reporters in Kupang, Antara, Thursday, September 8. The alleged corruption case in the procurement of shallot seeds for the 2018 fiscal year was handled by the NTT Regional Police from 2019 to 2021. However, on August 31, 2021, the case was terminated because one of the suspects named Baharudin Tony won in a pretrial. Given the large number of reports and complaints from the public to the KPK, the KPK finally intervened to take over the case. "In January 2022, this case was reopened, and based on the results of supervision and coordination with the NTT Regional Police and the NTT Prosecutor's Office, this case was then agreed to reopen and be taken over by us by the KPK," he said. Didik said that his party is optimistic that it will be able to solve and uncover this case, but the deadline for completion cannot be ascertained when it will be completed. Meanwhile, the NTT Police Chief Inspector General Setyo Budiyanto said investigators were checking and checking all the evidence to be handed over to KPK investigators. According to him, the handling of this case is sufficient or has approached the 4th year.
