JAKARTA - As many as 3,000 joint police personnel will maintain demonstrations to reject the increase in fuel prices (BBM) in front of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) building, Tuesday afternoon, September 6.
"In the DPR, around 3,000 personnel," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Pol. Komarudin in Jakarta.
Komarudin explained that the 3,000 personnel are members of the Polda Metro Jaya and the Central Jakarta Police. Thousands of personnel will escort 11 elements of the masses who will hold a demonstration.
Some of the mass elements held demonstrations with demands to refuse the increase in fuel prices.
"Meanwhile, in Central Jakarta, there are several elements. If I'm not mistaken, there are around 11 elements but only four who voice the rejection of the increase in fuel," explained Komarudin.
He hopes that this Tuesday's demonstration can run conducively so that the aspirations brought by the masses can be conveyed properly.
To divert the flow in front of the DPR building itself, Komarudin is still waiting for the mass situation in the field.
"Our traffic engineering is tentative, we look situational. If it is not necessary, we will not close it. But if the number of people is expected to close Jalan Gatot Subroto, yes (we will close)," he explained.
Several elements of the masses, one of which is the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions with the Labor Party, is scheduled to hold a demonstration in front of the DPR RI building this Tuesday.
Some of the demands brought by the masses include rejecting the increase in fuel prices that have just been announced by the government.
Previously, Indonesian President Joko Widodo asked protesters to express their aspirations well.
"Say it in good ways. Yes, this is a democratic country," he said.
