JEMBER - Jember Resort Police officers alerted hundreds of personnel to guard a number of public gas stations (SPBU) to anticipate fraud ahead and after the increase in fuel oil (BBM) in Jember Regency, East Java, Saturday, September 3. "We have placed a number of personnel at every gas station in Jember since Saturday afternoon to anticipate unwanted things," said Jember Police Chief AKBP Hery Purnomo in the local district. President Joko Widodo accompanied by Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, Minister of Social Affairs Tri Risma Harini and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif announced the increase in fuel prices since 14.30 WIB. The increase in the price of subsidized fuel is pertalite from Rp7,650 per liter to Rp10 thousand per liter; the diesel subsidized from Rp5,150 per liter to Rp6,800 per liter; and the first nonsubsidized x from Rp12,500 per liter to Rp14,500 per liter which is valid from September 3, 2022 at 14.30 WIB. "With the information that the increase in BBM, of course, a number of gas stations will be invaded by buyers and to anticipate things that are not desirable, especially fraud and wholesale action by middlemen, then we deploy hundreds of personnel to be alerted at 41 gas stations in Jember," he said, as quoted by Antara.

At a number of gas stations there were queues, but the number was not very significant and was still within reasonable limits, so Jember Police personnel were on guard at the gas station to anticipate fraud or hoarding. Hery also instructed his staff to carry out mobile monitoring and this was to avoid any individuals trying to hoard fuel. "We are also monitoring a number of places that are suspected to be hoarding fuel. Until now there is still no evidence, but we are monitoring these places," he said. He appealed to residents not to panic by buying the fuel increase, so buying fuel according to their needs and naturally. "We will continue to place Jember Police personnel to guard a number of gas stations until an undetermined time limit and the situation is completely normal as usual," he said.
