NTB - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) highlighted a case of alleged corruption in the management of 65 hectares of land assets in the Gili Trawangan tourist area, North Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

Director of Coordination and Supervision Region V of the KPK Budi Waluya said the anti-corruption agency would provide primary supervision or supervision in the case.

"KPK provides supervision of this case so that the handling can run more smoothly," said Budi in Mataram, NTB, Thursday, September 1.

Budi stated that the KPK in this matter had also prepared a legal opinion in the hope of assisting the government in improving asset management in Gili Trawangan.

"Of course we are in controlling this asset something that needs to be escorted. How will it be after the assets are fully controlled by the provincial government, then they can be utilized, can be collaborated with third parties and have an impact on regional income. So, there are no more parties who can use it for personal gain," said Budi, confiscated by Antara.

With this effort, Budi assured the KPK to support the prosecutor's legal efforts in uncovering criminal acts related to the alleged use of land for personal gain.

"We certainly support the investigation of individuals who take advantage of it for personal interests. However, so far we have seen that it is still ongoing, there are no complaints," he said.

In addition to supporting the prosecutor's legal efforts, Budi assured the KPK to pay attention to the government's efforts to save assets that could provide big income for the region, especially in the tourism sector.

"That is one of our goals to come to NTB to hold a coordination meeting with the governor and all local governments. We want to convey that controlling assets in the NTB mainstay tourist area has become the concern of the KPK," he said.

Regarding the prosecutor's steps in investigating corruption cases in asset management at Gili Trawangan, the Head of the NTB Prosecutor's Office, Sungarpin, ensured that the investigation was still ongoing.

Although he does not fully understand the progress of the investigation, Sungarpin emphasized that his party will not be careless in handling a case, especially in determining a suspect.

"If we certainly look at the elements, whether they are fulfilled or not, there is no state loss, that's him," said Sungarpin.

The NTB Prosecutor's Office on February 9, 2022 issued an Investigation Order for the Head of the NTB Prosecutor's Office Number: Print-02/N.2/Fd.1/02/2022.

The basis for consideration of the NTB Prosecutor's Office for increasing the case is seen from the results of the case title which states that there is an unlawful act.

As a follow-up to the results of the title, investigators have compiled an agenda for examining witnesses, experts, and efforts to trace potential state losses.

However, since the change of position within the NTB Prosecutor's Office, including the Head of the NTB Prosecutor's Office, Tomo Sitepu to Sungarpin and the Special Criminal Assistant (Aspidsus) of the NTB Prosecutor's Office from Gunawan Wibisono to Ely Rahmawati, the investigation of this case seems to be walking on the spot.

There has been no news related to the prosecutor's efforts to carry out an investigation, such as the agenda at the beginning of this case going up to the investigation stage.

The handling of cases originating from community reports led to allegations of illegal levies (extortion) regarding the use of land management rights (HPL) belonging to the NTB Provincial Government which became an agreement in the production contract with PT Gili Trawangan Indah (GTI).

The issue has emerged since 1998 when PT GTI pocketed a production contract agreement from the NTB Provincial Government to manage land.

During this period, there were allegations of a number of parties taking personal advantage. The allegation relates to massive and illegal land leases.

Furthermore, the latest conditions in the 65-hectare area of the Gili Trawangan area already have permanent buildings, most of which are community business fields that support tourism.

The mapping of the situation on the land has also been pocketed by the prosecutor's office. This was obtained when the NTB Prosecutor's Office served as a state attorney (JPN) to save and control assets in the tourist area.

This asset rescue effort, he said, was previously expected to be able to boost local revenues which were predicted to be able to make profits of up to trillions of rupiah.
