The Meeting Of Puan-Airlangga Hartarto Is Considered Productive If The Political Agreement Proceeds

JAKARTA - The chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP, Puan Maharani, is scheduled to meet with the General Chair of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, on Saturday, September 3. The meeting is considered productive if it produces a political agreement. Political observer Emrus Sihombing said the meeting was a friendship between two statesmen with political characters that prioritize diversity and unity.

"The plan to meet Puan Maharani and Airlangga Hartarto is a meeting of statesmen who both have a political line on diversity, about inclusiveness," said Emrus, Thursday, September 1.

However, Emrus assessed that Puan Maharani's meeting with Airlangga Hartarto would be more productive if it resulted in a political agreement. "I think that the meeting can be more productive, if there is some kind of agreement on the back stage when they meet," he added.

The agreement, he said, could be in the form of a declaration of a presidential candidate (candidate) and a vice presidential candidate (cawapres), as well as an agreement to seek to embrace all political forces.

"Hopefully their meeting will come to an agreement to pair Puan Maharani as a presidential candidate, and Airlangga will become a vice presidential candidate for the 2024 presidential election, with a note embracing all political forces in political cooperation," Emrus explained.

According to Emrus, the Puan-Airlangga pair is the ideal couple. Puan Maharani can play a leader with maternal characters who are able to embrace and secure all political forces. Meanwhile, Airlangga is considered to have the ability as a captain in the economic field. "This is proven by his success in handling COVID-19 while maintaining the economic condition of Indonesia," he said.
