JAKARTA - After only three days of setting foot in Indonesia, a foreigner from the United States named Cecoy Chevenye Burnett (27) had to be in prison. He was arrested for bringing brownie cakes and vape liquid containing marijuana.

South Jakarta Police Chief Kombes Bastoni Purnama said CCB was arrested at the Bintaro Park View Apartment, South Jakarta, on Monday, January 20. He was arrested along with a number of evidences in the form of a brownie cake made from marijuana weighing 1 kg, which was brought from his home country.

"From the results of this search, we get some evidence, including this cake in the form of a brownie containing marijuana. It weighs approximately one kilo, then there are some liquids for vaping, there are five," Bastoni said in Jakarta, Thursday, January 23. .

Not only that, several other pieces of evidence were found, in the form of papyrus or marijuana cigarette packs, marijuana flower destroyers, and dried marijuana leaves. To investigators, he admitted that the cake and vape liquid came from California, United States.

"Yes, the brownies were finished, so they were brought to Indonesia, they were made there in America in California where the suspect lived, including this liquid was also made there, entered Indonesia in this form," said Bastoni.

During the examination, the suspect admitted that the cakes and liquid containing marijuana were only for personal consumption. In fact, it was said that the man did not know that the items he was carrying were prohibited in Indonesia.

It's just that, it does not rule out if the foreign citizen also circulates it. Because, from the available data, it is known that CCB has visited Indonesia several times.

"We continue to explore (indications of circulating issues). We cooperate with the American police on how to develop it, are there any network links and so on, we will explore these possibilities," said Bastoni, adding that the suspect had repeatedly visited Indonesia.

"The statement from the suspect has visited Indonesia four to five times," he continued.

Meanwhile, regarding the way the perpetrators tricked the airport officers, it was said that this was done by putting the prohibited items into a bag and then placing it in the aircraft cabin.

"The perpetrator brought all of these items in the cabin in the bag, not in the trunk. Then, to trick him, the suspect made a cake like this in which there is a reward, then in the form of a liquid like this, then it is shaped like this is wrapped," said Bastoni.

With evidence that the man was storing marijuana, the police charged him with Article 111 paragraph 1 and Article 112 paragraph 2 with the threat of a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
