JAKARTA - Artificial intelligence technology plays an important role in future warfare, essential to being controlled by individual soldiers, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Although artificial intelligence technology is widely used in Russia's high-precision weapons, there is still much attention to training for individual Russian soldiers.

That was said by Vasily Yelistratov, head of the Directorate of Artificial Intelligence Technology of the Russian Ministry of Defense on the sidelines of the Army International Military Technical Forum 2022 some time ago.

"Smart technology, artificial intelligence are cross-sectoral technology. It comes in all weapons, especially those with high appreciation and land, air and sea-based weapons systems," he told TASS as reported August 27.

According to Yelistratov, in the 'day hybrid war' conditions it is placed on weapons intellectualization. However, in his words, the Ministry of Defense does not reject the classic method.

"The future war is a machine war. It's clear. And the smarter the weapon, the less losses it will suffer. The most valuable is human life. But this is a matter of the future," he explained.

"Today, during the transition period, a lot of attention is given to the soldiers' personal training as well," he said.

Earlier, Alexander Osadchuk, head of the Directorate of Innovation Development of the Russian Ministry of Defense, announced the establishment of an artificial intelligence directorate within the ministry.
