JAKARTA - Institute for Security and Strategic Studies (ISESS) researcher Khairul Fahmi reminded the public to continue to oversee the decision to dishonorably discharge (PTDH) Inspector General Ferdy Sambo. Moreover, the former Head of the Propam Division is still appealing the decision of the ethics trial.

"The public should not be in a hurry to welcome them. As we all know, the recommendation for the dishonorable discharge (PTDH) to Ferdy Sambo this morning is not final. The person concerned is still filing an appeal," Fahmi said in a written statement to reporters, Friday, August 26.

With this appeal, continued Fahmi, Ferdy's dismissal will still be a long process. "We don't know yet whether the appeal will strengthen it or how," he said.

Thus, the public is asked to continue to monitor this decision. Fahmi hopes that the appeal process until the decision can be made quickly so that Ferdy's problem can be cleared immediately.

"If we say the results are as expected, there will still be a process that must be ensured. Until Ferdy Sambo is completely dismissed according to the recommendations," he said.

"We hope the process will be fast and not long-winded," continued Fahmi.

Previously, the suspected mastermind behind the premeditated murder of Brigadier Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J filed an appeal regarding the decision of the ethics trial which dismissed him dishonorably from the Police.

The appeal was conveyed by Ferdy after the decision on his dismissal was read by the Professional Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP) at the TNCC building at the South Jakarta Police Headquarters, Friday, August 26, early in the morning.

"Please allow the Chairperson of KKEP, how do we convey it in the trial process, we acknowledge all our actions and regret all the actions we have done to the Polri institution," said Sambo.

"But we ask for permission in accordance with Article 69 of PP No. 72 of 2022, allow us to file an appeal," he continued.

Meanwhile, the National Police confirmed that the appeal decision regarding Inspector General Ferdy Sambo would be final. There are no other legal remedies for the special appeal decision related to Ferdy Sambo.

The Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, explained that the National Police would not enforce the provisions of the Judicial Review (PK) contained in the Indonesian National Police Regulation (Perpol) Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Professional Code of Ethics and the Police Code of Ethics Commission in the case of Inspector General Ferdy Sambo.

In Perpol Number 7 of 2022, it is regulated that members of the National Police who are found to be proven to have violated the code of ethics can apply for a Judicial Review (PK) as stated in Article 83.

"Especially for Inspector General FS, the appeal is a final and binding decision," said Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo at a press conference at the National Police Headquarters, Friday, August 26 in the morning.
