JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that the regulation of Governor Regulation Number 207 of 2016 concerning Control of Land Use/Control without Entitled Permits will be revoked.

Pergub 207/2016 was issued by Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) while serving as Governor of DKI in 2016. Ahok often uses this governor's regulation to carry out evictions. Until now, Anies is still using the governor's regulation.

In response to this, the People's Coalition Against Evictions (KRMP), which demanded the revocation of the governor's regulation, admitted that they could not feel relieved. This is because the governor's regulation on forced evictions has not been officially revoked.

"In response to the governor's statement that confirming that this regulation will be revoked, of course this is an action that should have been taken by Mr. Anies. However, we also cannot in the sense of being happy first, because the governor's regulation has not been revoked," said KRMP representative from LBH Jakarta, Jihan Fauziah Hamdi when contacted by VOI, Friday, August 26.

Jihan said that residents affected by this eviction still needed Anies' commitment to ensure that Pergub 207/2016 was no longer valid. Bearing in mind, until now the new draft regulation which revokes the eviction regulation will still be brought to the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) for the harmonization process.

"What we need is the commitment or seriousness of Anies as the Governor of DKI or the Provincial Government to really oversee the process. Either by making efforts to the Minister of Home Affairs and so on so that this Pergub is truly revoked," he explained.

Previously, the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan ensured that Governor Regulation No. 207 of 2016 concerning Control of the Use/Control of Land Without Entitled Permits would be revoked.

This is in response to the demands of the KRMP, which has held several hearings with the DKI Provincial Government to collect Anies' promise to revoke the eviction.

"(Pergub Number 27 of 2016) is in the process of being revoked. The revocation of the Pergub has been made, it is already in process," said Anies when met in the Cakung area, East Jakarta, Thursday, August 25.

As is known, when Anies served as Governor of DKI in 2017 until now, the governor's regulation was still used by him to carry out forced evictions. In fact, this is not in accordance with Anies' narrative during the 2017 Pilkada campaign, which did not want to evicte residents' settlements.

The evictions using the governor's regulation during Anies' leadership of DKI took place in Pancoran Buntu II, South Jakarta; Vegetable Garden, Ciracas, East Jakarta; Bukit Duri, Tebet, South Jakarta; and Sunter Agung, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.

However, Anies could not unilaterally issue the revocation of the governor's eviction regulation. This is because the DKI Provincial Government must seek approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri).

"Nowadays, to make a new governor regulation, there must be a harmonization agreement with the Ministry of Home Affairs," said Anies.

Thus, after the process of harmonization of the draft regulation for the revocation of evictions by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Anies can only revoke the regulation that has been in effect since 2016.

"We are currently in the process of harmonization with the Ministry of Home Affairs. Later, once it is finished, the number (pergub) will be announced," he said.
