SURABAYA - Police officers misuse drugs, apparently not only in Sukodono, Sidoarjo, East Java. In Surabaya, three members of the Sukamanunggal Police have tested positive for drug abuse.

"So of the 30 members who were tested for urine, three members tested positive for drugs, possibly methamphetamine," said Head of Public Relations of the East Java Police, Kombes Dirmanto, at the East Java Police Headquarters, Surabaya, Thursday, August 25.

Dirmanto said that the urine test was carried out by the Propam and Propam ranks of the East Java Police. This step was carried out in the aftermath of an individual suspected of having a shabu party at the Sukodono Police Headquarters in Sidoarjo some time ago.

"This is in accordance with the leadership's direction, as a form of seriousness in taking action against members who abuse narcotics," he said.

Apart from the three members who tested positive for drug abuse, Dirmanto continued, there are five other members who are still being investigated. This means that, said Dirmanto, the urine taken from the five members is still being examined further.

"Then we are still investigating the urim of the five. We hope that we will get the results soon," he said.

Kombes Dirmanto said the three members who tested positive for drugs were all non-commissioned officers.

Regarding the next legal process, Dirmanto stated that he was still waiting for the results of the investigation conducted by the Propam Bid of the East Java Police.
