Don't Just Buy Cosmetics Or Drugs Online, It's Dangerous If The Product Turns Out To Be Unlicensed

PADANG - The Center for Drug and Food Control (BBPOM) Padang, West Sumatra (West Sumatra) reminded the public to remain careful when shopping for food products, medicines, or cosmetics online.

This was reminded by BBPOM Padang seeing the development of online buying and selling trends in the community, as well as the increasing number of digital platforms to support these online transactions.

"We still remind the people of West Sumatra to be careful when buying food products, medicines, or cosmetics online (online), not to consume products that are not safe," said Head of BBPOM Padang Abdul Rahim as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, 24 August.

The BBPOM provides tips to the public as consumers to check product safety through the slogan Check Klik, namely check packaging, check labels, check distribution permits, and check expiration.

"The public as consumers can also use the BPOM mobile application or website to ensure the legality of drug and food products," he explained.

BBPOM Padang asked the public not to consume products that do not have clear safety and quality standards, and do not have distribution permits.

Abdul Rahim also emphasized that BBPOM Padang continues to carry out routine supervision of production and distribution facilities.

"We go down every week by visiting production and distribution facilities to monitor medicines, food, and cosmetics," he said.

For products that have a distribution permit, he said, samples were taken to be examined by BBPOM Padang officers.

Business actors are reminded not to commit fraudulent practices in their business activities, such as using hazardous and prohibited materials for profit.

Violators will be subject to sanctions ranging from administration, revocation of permits, to criminal penalties.
