PALEMBANG - Palembang Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas) officers evacuated the body of a child under five from a water channel in the Palembang City area, South Sumatra. The victim's mother, Siti Komariah (27), on Monday (23/8) reported that her youngest child had disappeared after playing with her eight-year-old sister under the house.

"He played with Ayin's Mbak and was still wearing a diaper under the house that afternoon," said Siti, a mother of five.

Siti said, her daughter then briefly climbed into the house, leaving her sister alone to play near the water channel beside the house.

"At that time it was raining, when he wanted to be picked up into the house he was gone," said Siti, who then reported the incident to the SAR officers.
