CIREBON - A total of 120 marbut in Cirebon City, West Java received employment social security in order to provide protection to them in the task of maintaining and managing mosques in that area.

"There are 120 marbut mosques that are included in the social security program," said Cirebon City Secretary Agus Mulyadi as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 23.

He said the Cirebon City Government appreciated the implementation of the social security program for the marbut in the local area.

He expressed his gratitude for the collaboration between the At Taqwa Center, BPJS Employment, and the Cirebon City Council of Indonesian Mosques (DMI) related to the implementation of the program.

The provision of social security for the marbut, he said, shows the social solidarity that has been integrated in every movement of religious and social life in the city of Cirebon.

"With collaboration and a strong commitment, a social security program for the marbut mosques in Cirebon was finally realized," he said.

Agus added that marbut is an instrument that cannot be separated from a mosque because they are part, face, and symbols of Islam.

"Their job is very noble," he said.

Therefore, he said, mutual concern and commitment are needed to improve their welfare.

Currently, the Cirebon City Government is reviewing the possibility that social security contributions to them can be accommodated through the APBD.

"We certainly hope that programs like this can continue to be implemented and reach more beneficiaries," he said.

Head of At Taqwa Center Ahmad Yani explained that this social security program was the second to be carried out for them.

"In 2018, there were more than a hundred people. And up to now around 70 people are active. And this year it includes 120 marbut people," he said.
