Riau Provincial Government Disburses IDR 1.2 Billion To Register 6,000 Vulnerable Workers Starting From Ojeks, Construction Workers Participants Of BP Jamsostek

PEKANBARU - The Riau Provincial Government allocated a budget of IDR 1.2 billion from the Riau Regional Budget in 2023 to register 6,000 vulnerable workers in the area as BP-Jamsostek participants.

This step is an effort by the provincial government to accelerate the elimination of extreme poverty or absolute poverty.

"The 6,000 vulnerable workers include farmers, motorcycle taxi drivers, construction workers/laborers, freelance teachers, casual workers, or prioritized people who have high-risk jobs," said Head of the Manpower and Transmigration Office (Disnakertrans) of Riau Province, Imron Rosyadi here. Pekanbaru, Antara, Tuesday, August 23.

Each vulnerable worker who has been registered as a BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participant gets Rp. 16,800/month or Rp. 200,000 per year. The heirs can submit a claim when the participant dies and receive Rp42 million from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan.

If the victim leaves a child who is still in school, scholarships will also be given from elementary to college.

"This program will be provided for a year with two types of services, namely work accident insurance and death insurance. This is the mandate of Presidential Instruction No. 4 of 2022 concerning the Acceleration of the Elimination of Extreme Poverty," he said.

However, this BPJS Employment program is a stimulus program for a year, for the following year it will be replaced again with other vulnerable workers.

Because, he said, the Riau Provincial Government has a limited budget, and when a year has been completed, participants are expected to be able to continue again independently. When they know the benefits, it is believed that participants can become independent.

"We will continue to encourage the concern of the local government to implement the program. Like the Bengkalis Regency Government in 2023 it will also help as many as 24,000 vulnerable workers who will receive employment social security contributions. Likewise, the Siak Regency Government will help 5,000 vulnerable workers to become BPJS Employment participants," so Imron.
