DENPASAR - The Denpasar City Government, Bali, immediately curbed cigarette advertisements in modern shops in accordance with recommendations from the Denpasar Children's Forum.

At the commemoration of National Children's Day in Denpasar City, Tuesday, Deputy Mayor of Denpasar I Kadek Agus Arya Wibawa said that the recommendations of the Denpasar Children's Forum include reducing cigarette advertising in Denpasar City.

He said one benchmark for a Child Friendly City is free from cigarette advertisements, therefore the city government will follow up on the recommendations of the children's forum to curb cigarette advertising.

"We will immediately follow up with the rules so that there are guidelines and guidelines for their implementation in the field. We will take various efforts and steps so that Denpasar will truly become a Child-friendly City," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 23.

According to him, cigarette billboards and billboards in open spaces are almost non-existent in Denpasar City, but cigarette advertisements are still commonly found in modern stores or retail stores.

In addition to controlling cigarette advertising, he said, the city government provides a creative space for children and young people by presenting the Dharmanegara Alaya Creative Hub.

"The Mayor of Denpasar has assigned the task of opening up space for young people and children to be creative. In the near future, one of the shops in the Sacred Area managed by Perumda Pasar will be turned into a creative hub for young people," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the 2022 Denpasar Children's Festival I Ketut Galang Pranu Bagaswara said that this year's commemoration of National Children's Day in Denpasar carried the theme "Creating in Mentari Village".

"We hope that children in Denpasar can be creative, innovate, compete with a positive and bright aura as bright as the sun," he said.
