JAKARTA - The chemical factory on Jalan Raya Cakung Cilincing, North Jakarta caught fire. During the incident, residents heard two explosions.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency, Satriadi Gunawan, said that his party received reports from residents on Tuesday, August 23, at 12:37 WIB.

The incident began when residents saw smoke from the factory, then they reported it to the North Jakarta Fire Department.

"Initially, residents saw smoke, there was an explosion. Two explosions there was black smoke. They immediately reported it," said Gunawan, Tuesday, August 23.

Gunawan suspects that the fire came from a chemical mixing furnace at the factory. The reason is that when they arrived at the location, officers saw the burnt stove.

"The provisional suspicion is like that (a chemical mixing furnace). Because we have seen it ourselves. There are 4 furnaces, one of which was burned. The other 3 are still good, so it is an assumption like that. But the full details are to the police," he said.

A total of 26 fire fighting units were deployed to extinguish the fire. As a result, the fire was brought under control at 14:26 WIB.

"It goes out quickly, half past three has gone out. Only half past three to half five cooling down," he said.

He admitted that he did not know the amount of damage caused by the fire incident. However, Gunawan ensured that there were no casualties in the incident.

"Losses still cannot be estimated. There will be no fatalities," he concluded
