PADANG - Cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in Pariaman City, West Sumatra until August 2022 reached 108 cases. This number has increased drastically when compared to the same period in 2021 which was only 59 cases.

"Last week there were 103 cases, while now there are 108 cases. Whereas last year there were only 59 cases, while two people died," said Head of the Pariaman City Health Office, Nazifah in Pariaman, Antara, Tuesday, August 23.

So far, the Health Office has anticipated by bringing health workers to residents' homes to check the condition of the bath and the home environment as well as providing education to the community.

In addition, to prevent the spread of dengue cases in Pariaman, local health officers also carried out fogging at locations where cases were found within a certain radius.

However, he said, due to changes in the weather that occurred in the area and around it, mosquito larvae grew faster which eventually had an impact on DHF.

He conveyed that to overcome the increase in cases, the Pariaman City Government had issued an appeal letter to the sub-district government which was forwarded to the lurah and village to carry out the goro.

"Goro is carried out to eradicate mosquito nests, such as draining the bathtub, cleaning cans from puddles, cleaning the house inside and outside and tidying up piles of cloth," he said.

Nazifah invites residents in the area to respond to the DHF phenomenon in Pariaman which continues to increase by participating in carrying out the goro eradication of mosquito nests.

He conveyed the importance of implementing a clean lifestyle to anticipate dengue by re-accustoming to applying the 3 M plus, namely draining or cleaning water reservoirs, closing water reservoirs, and burying used goods and trying to avoid mosquito bites.

He also responded to the alleged case of a Pariaman resident who died from dengue fever.

According to him, the death of one person was not purely due to DHF, but the presence of co-morbidities that he experienced before contracting DHF.
