PALEMBANG - Special Criminal Investigator of the District Attorney's Office (Kejari) Prabumulih searched the Office of the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of South Sumatra to collect evidence related to the investigation into a case of alleged corruption.

The search lasted about two hours. The investigation team arrived at the South Sumatra Bawaslu Office located on Jalan Opi Raya, Jakabaring, Palembang City, Tuesday, at around 12.00 WIB.

The Head of the Intel Section of the Prabumulih District Attorney's Office, Anjasra Karya, said the search was carried out in the context of investigating cases of alleged corruption in the misuse of grant funds at the Prabumulih City Bawaslu for the 2017 and 2018 Fiscal Years.

Investigators confiscated a number of evidence of accountability documents related to the activities of the grant funds at the Prabumulih Bawaslu. In carrying out the search, he said, his party was assisted by investigators from the South Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office.

"We took all of the documentary evidence obtained from the South Sumatra Bawaslu to the Prabumulih Kejari for further investigation," he said in Palembang, Antara, Tuesday, August 23.

Previously, he said, his party had also secured evidence from the Prabumulih Bawaslu Office during a search operation on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Prabumulih District Attorney's Office Roy Riyadi said in this case, the Prabumulih Bawaslu was suspected of carrying out activities in 2017 and 2018 which were mostly fictitious.

The use of grant funds in activities that are allegedly fictitious is known to be worth IDR 700 million in 2017 and 2018 worth IDR 4.9 billion, respectively.

"Investigators will examine each of these documents and the results of the search at the Prabumulih Bawaslu Office yesterday. For state losses, we are still waiting for the results of the audit of the State Audit and Development Agency (BPKP)," he said.
