MATARAM - The Transportation Agency of Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB) has brought order to hundreds of street vendors (PKL) who sell on sidewalks or pedestrians as public facilities because they are considered to take the rights of road users.

"The number of street vendors that we have ordered has reached hundreds and some of them have returned to selling because they are stubborn," said Head of the Mataram City Transportation Service, M Saleh, in Mataram, Antara, Monday, August 22.

According to him, in the control activities, his party went down with an integrated control team from the Satpol PP and the Trade Office (Disdag).

He admitted, traders who use the sidewalk facilities are almost evenly distributed on a number of roads in Mataram City. However, the most severe points were at Jalan Airlangga, Majapahit, Jalan Sriwijaya, and Jalan Suprapto.

The reason is, the condition of the road is already severe enough that it must be immediately brought under control with an integrated team, so as not to have the potential to disrupt traffic flow.

"Therefore, we are now optimizing integrated supervision and control at the four locations together with the Trade Department and the Satpol PP," said Saleh.

Especially for traders on Jalan Majapahit, Saleh said, they were given an exception by only being allowed to operate from the afternoon until the evening. "We are not allowed to sell them from morning until noon. If they are found, we will discipline them," said Saleh.

The exception is given because there is land that can be used. However, the policy was only given temporarily, until the results of the zoning mapping of street vendors were allowed and not allowed by the Trade Office.

"Hopefully, the mapping carried out by the Disdag can be completed soon, so that street vendors can be organized and no longer use public facilities," he said.
