BENGKULU - The Public Fuel Filling Station (SPBU) located at Kilometer (Km) 8 Kelurahan Jalan Gedang, Gading Cempaka District, Bengkulu City was burnt down.

Head of the Bengkulu City Fire Department (Damkar) Yuliansyah said there were two pertalite-type fuel filling machines that caught fire.

"We received a report from the public at around 20.00 WIB that the gas station at Km 8 caught fire," said Yuliansyah as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 22.

He explained that when he arrived at the scene, the fire had enlarged, so his party made efforts to extinguish it by lowering eight fire engines.

At this time, the cause of the fire is not known. However, the fire broke out when the gas station attendant filled one four-wheeled vehicle with fuel.

There were no casualties in this incident, and the total loss cannot be calculated.

Yuliansyah hopes that the surrounding community will not come to the location of the incident, because the pertalite type of fuel is leaking out.

"For the community, I ask not to go to the location, because in the area there is still fuel, so it can trigger a fire again," he said.

Currently, the fire has been extinguished. Firefighters have carried out inspections.

Meanwhile, the police conducted a temporary search and investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
