Distributing 3,000 Land Certificates In Sidoarjo, Jokowi Invites Residents To Pawn At Banks For Business Capital

SIDOARJO - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) handed over land certificates to 3,000 people from Sidoarjo Regency, Malang Regency, Malang City, and Gresik Regency in Gelora Delta, Sidoarjo Regency, East Java, Monday.

In a statement from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, the President encouraged the public to use the land certificate wisely, including making loans to banks for investment and business capital.

"Please borrow it from a bank, but if you get Rp100 million (for example), use it for working capital, use it for investment capital, use it for business capital," Jokowi said in Sidoarjo, East Java, quoted from Antara, Monday 22 August.

Jokowi also reminded the public to take into account if the land certificate will be used as collateral for a loan to a bank. He appealed to the public not to use the bank loan money for consumptive purposes.

"(Gets) Rp. 500 million, of which Rp. 250 million is to buy a new car. Happy, walking around the village, dashing, driving around the village, dashing in a car; but that's only six months. You can't pay in installments, you can't pay the bank in installments, you can't pay the car in installments, that's where the disaster begins," he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Hadi Tjahjanto in his report said the distribution of land certificates was part of the stimulus to improve the people's economy in line with the declining number of COVID-19 cases.

"Because with land certificates, people have the opportunity to get access to capital, besides there is legal certainty about their land," said Hadi.

Also accompanying Jokowi in the activity were State Secretary Pratikno, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, and Sidoarjo Regent Ahmad Muhdlor Ali.
