The Chaos Of Inspector General Ferdy Sambo Is An Opportunity For The National Police Chief To Clean Up The Police

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives Didik Mukrianto said the case of Brigadier J's murder which ensnared Inspector General Ferdy Sambo became a momentum for the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to clean up the Polri institution.

"This incident and public input must be an evaluation and an important moment for the National Police Chief to make improvements and clean up the Polri institution from elements of its members who commit irregularities and violations," said Didik in a statement received in Jakarta, Monday, August 22, as reported by Antara.

Didik said that the Police could not turn a blind eye to the huge public attention related to the case of Brigadier J's death. There was too much speculation in the public that was not only related to the shooting case.

The DPR member said that there were various allegations, problems regarding the professionalism of the Police, and irregularities allegedly committed by police officers that were revealed by the public.

"Whatever the form of information and public input, I hope that the Chief of the National Police will be wise to conduct an in-depth investigation and follow up with quick and measurable steps," he said.

In the case of Brigadier J's murder, the National Police Special Team has named five people as suspects. They include Ferdy Sambo, Ferdy Sambo's wife Putri Candrawathi, Bharada Richard Eliezer Pudihang Lumiu alias Bharada E, Bripka Ricky Rizal or Bripka RR, and the household assistant Sambo Kuwat Maruf.

They were charged with Article 340 subsidiary Article 338 in conjunction with Article 55 in conjunction with Article 56 of the Criminal Code. Article 340 stipulates that criminal acts related to premeditated murder are punishable by the death penalty, life imprisonment, or 20 years imprisonment.

In addition, there are six police officers who are being questioned because they are suspected of committing a crime with obstruction of justice or obstructing the investigation into the case of Brigadier J's murder. Of the six names, one of them is Ferdy Sambo.
