For Sandiaga Uno, Culture Can Be Preserved Through Tourism

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno stated that culture can be preserved and appreciated through tourism.

On the other hand, culture can also characterize tourist destinations and attractions that can increase tourist visits and the local economy.

"Cultural attractions can attract tourists, so that their various potentials can move the community's economy and open up job opportunities," said Sandiaga in an official statement, Saturday, August 20.

Sandiaga appreciated the implementation of the Archipelago Cultural and Indigenous Festival I which was held in Klungkung Regency, Bali, as an effort to preserve culture and a venue for friendship between kingdoms and traditional institutions in the country.

The Archipelago Traditional and Cultural Festival I will be held from August 16-19 2022 with the involvement of 211 kingdoms from all over the archipelago who are members of the Indigenous Peoples of the Archipelago (Matra) and dozens of royal representatives from abroad.

The first Nusantara Traditional and Cultural Festival held was an effort to strengthen the relationship between the kingdom and traditional institutions, explore economic potential, and show concern for the resilience of the archipelago's customs and culture.

Bali was chosen as the host of the event because the Island of the Gods has a wealth of royal customs and culture, as well as indigenous peoples that are still well preserved.

"Culture and tourism can revive and prosper each other, so that cultural preservation is maintained," said Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani, Thursday, August 18 yesterday.

The unique value contained in the event can also be an attraction to promote Indonesian tourism nationally and internationally. "We invite all parties to be able to participate in efforts to preserve culture and promote tourism as an effort to recover the economy so that Indonesia can recover faster and rise stronger," he said.
