This Man Is A Martial Arts Teacher But Repeatedly Abuses Minors

JAKARTA - Malang Police is investigating the case of sexual abuse of minors by the suspect MR, a self-defense teacher.

Head of Public Relations of the Malang Resort Police, Iptu Ahmad Taufik, in Malang Regency, East Java, said Friday that his party had examined five witnesses related to the case of sexual abuse of minors.

"We have examined a total of five witnesses, including the victim's witness. The witness is one of the students, neighbors and parents of the victim," said Taufik, Friday, August 19, as reported by Antara.

Taufik explained that the victim is currently 21 years old and is receiving assistance from the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Malang Police. The sexual harassment incident occurred when the victim was 17 years old.

According to Taufik, the Malang Police has opened a complaint room for other victims who have yet to report. His party will follow up if there are other victims who report related cases of sexual harassment.

"We will conduct another investigation later. We will also open a complaint at the Malang Police PPA Unit if there are other victims," he said.

He added that the case was successfully solved when another student reported a sexual harassment case. The victim who was harassed at that time reported to the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Malang Regency.

"This case began with another witness who reported to KONI that the victim was abused. Then it was revealed that MR committed sexual abuse of minors when their parents were not at home," he said.

Based on the information obtained by the officer from the suspect's statement, he continued, the suspect MR repeated the sexual abuse against the victim. The perpetrator also had sexual intercourse with the victim.

"The perpetrator had repeated sexual intercourse. The perpetrator promised to marry the victim," he said.

For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 81 Jo 76D Sub-article 82 Jo Article 76E of Law No. 35 of 2014 on the amendment of Law No. 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
