JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) spoke about reports of alleged corruption by President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) son Gibran Rakabuming Raka by Jakarta State University (UNJ) lecturer Ubedilah Badrun. Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, said the report was archived because it was stated to be incomplete.

"So far, the indications of corruption that have been reported are still vague and unclear," Ghufron told reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, August 19.

Ghufron revealed that the KPK had verified and clarified after Ubedilah submitted the report on 10 January. However, in the process the reporter did not provide the additional data needed.

"The reporter does not yet have information on the description of the facts of the alleged corruption crime and or supporting data related to the abuse of authority of the state officials related to the alleged corruption," he stressed.

Moreover, Gibran was reported in his capacity as the son of the president who was suspected of corruption and money laundering.

"So I apologize for what was reported at that time by people who were not state officials," said Ghufron.

"I think that's why until now the complaint is still being archived because there is no further support," he continued.

Previously, the lecturer who was also an activist from '98 Ubedilah Badrun reported that the two children of President Jokowi were suspected of corruption and money laundering.

"This report is related to allegations of corruption and/or money laundering (TPPU) in connection with the alleged KKN of business relations between the president's son and a business group suspected of being involved in forest fires," Ubedilah told reporters after reporting to the KPK.

The incident, called Ubedilah, began in 2015. At that time, there was a large company that was suspected of burning forests and had been sued by the Ministry of Environment for a value of Rp. 7.9 trillion.

The Supreme Court (MA) then only granted the claim amounting to Rp78 billion. Ubedilah said this happened after President Jokowi's son formed a joint company with a high-ranking subsidiary of PT SM in February 2019.

With this condition, the allegations of corruption, collusion and nepotism that Ubedilah called it very clearly involved Gibran, Kaesang, and the children of PT SM officials because of an injection of capital investment funds from a venture company.

"Twice, funds were disbursed. The figure was approximately Rp. 99.3 billion in the near future. After that, the president's son bought shares in a company whose figure was also quite fantastic at Rp. 92 billion," said Ubedilah.

"And that for us is a big question mark, can a young person who has just set up a company easily get a capital investment with a quite fantastic figure if he is not the president's son," he added.
