Argo Parahyangan Train Becomes Stone-Throwing Victim, 3 Teens In Jatinegara

JAKARTA - The long-distance train (KA) Argo Parahyangan became a victim of stone-throwing by a group of youths in the Jatinegara area, East Jakarta. The action went viral on social media and spread across a number of WhatsApp groups.

The incident occurred when the train was passing on Thursday, August 17 in Jatinegara. In the video footage, three young men are seen sitting and standing around the railroad tracks. When the train passed, they were seen pelting the train with stones.

Head of Public Relations of PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Eva Chairunisa said that his party had not arrested the perpetrators of the stone throwing. He said Daop 1 Jakarta condemned the stone-throwing action as seen in the video.

"This action can endanger travel and cause casualties," he said when confirmed by VOI, Friday, August 19.

Currently, Daop 1 Jakarta claims to be coordinating with related parties and trying to find the perpetrators (throwing).

"The Daop 1 security team also continues to conduct sweeps and security in areas prone to hurling, including videos," he said.

According to the applicable law, this action violates the law. So that KAI Daop 1 Jakarta will process the law found to throw trains or other acts of vandalism.

"The criminal penalty for throwing a train at a train has been regulated in the Criminal Code (KUHP). People who see acts of vandalism are also advised to report the incident to the officers at the station so that the perpetrator can be arrested," he said.
