BADUNG - A total of 61 inmates or inmates at the Kerobokan Prison, Badung, Wednesday within the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Bali Province, received direct remission or (RU II) in the context of the 77th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.

Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Bali Province, Anggiat Napitupulu, stated that the government gave remissions to 2,074 prisoners, of which 61 were immediately released (RU II).

Of the total number of inmates who received the remission, there were 55 foreign nationals (foreigners) where one foreigner was declared free immediately.

Anggiat Napitupulu said the submission of the remission was a form of fulfillment and protection of the rights of the inmates who must be respected in accordance with Article 10 of Law no. 22 of 2022 concerning Corrections.

"On this happy occasion, correctional inmates also have the right to receive remission from the state because they have carried out all the coaching programs provided by the state well," said Anggiat Napitupulu at Kerobokan Prison, Badung, Bali, Wednesday, August 17.

The granting of remissions, he said, was only given to prisoners who had met the terms and conditions, such as having the status of a prisoner in accordance with a legal decision that had permanent legal force, had good treatment and had never violated the applicable regulations in the correctional institution or detention house.

In addition, other conditions that are met by inmates who get remission are to have participated in all the coaching programs provided by the prison and detention center, and have served a minimum of six months' criminal period.

Anggiat hopes that inmates who are free from Kerobokan Prison must be able to show good self-quality, because the main purpose of providing a coaching program is to provide mental, spiritual and social provisions to be able to integrate healthily when the person concerned returns to the community later.

In addition to providing direct free remission, the government also provides general remission to correctional residents in the form of cutting the prison term with terms and conditions based on the law.

"For every inmate who gets remission on this occasion, take advantage of this moment as motivation to behave well, obey the rules and continue to follow the coaching program diligently and seriously," said Anggiat.

"Instill in your brothers and sisters that what you are going through now is not suffering, but a process of coaching and education to become a better, stronger and dignified human being," he continued.
