PEKANBARU - The joint SAR team finally found a 9-year-old boy named Raffa who drowned in the Indragiri River, Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regency, Riau, after a three-day search process.
Head of the Pekanbaru Basarnas Office I Nyoman Sidakarya said Raffa was found dead on the banks of the Indragiri River.
"This Wednesday (17/8) at around 08.25 WIB, the joint SAR team found the victim about 3 kilometers downstream in a state of death. After being found, the victim was immediately evacuated and taken to the funeral home for the funeral process," he said, as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 17th.
With the discovery of Raffa, the SAR search operation was closed at 09.00 WIB. Each element involved in the search returned to their respective agencies.
Previously, a boy named Raffa (9) was dragged by the current of the Indragiri River, Talontam Village, Benai District, Kuantan Singingi, while trying to retrieve his money which had fallen into the river, Sunday (14/8) at around 17.00 WIB.
At that time, Raffa was bathing in the river. But suddenly the money fell and he tried to pick it up and unconsciously drifted away and drowned.
Receiving the report, the joint SAR team attempted to search for Raffa's victims by combing the river downstream for 2 kilometers using a rubber boat, Under Water Search Device (UWSD) and the Aqua Eye detector.
The Pekanbaru Basarnas reminded people who live around the river to pay more attention to their children when playing, considering the river current is quite heavy.
"It's better to play in another, safer place," said Sidakarya.
