BKSDA Aceh Sends A Team To Overcome Wild Elephant Disturbance In Pidie

BANDA ACEH - The Aceh Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) has dispatched a team to help overcome the disturbance of wild elephant herds in the Pidie Regency area.

According to the Head of the Conservation Section for Region I of the Aceh BKSDA, Kamaruzzaman, the BKSDA has dispatched a team to herd the elephants that enter the community's plantations in Turue Cut Village, Mane District, Pidie Regency.

"The team on duty in the field is very limited, so at this time we have directed the team to herd the elephants that enter the residents' plantations in Turue Cut Village," he said in Pidie, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 16.

The Aceh BKSDA will then mobilize a team to help overcome the disturbance of wild elephants in the Kunyet area, Padangtiji District, Pidie Regency.

According to him, the Aceh BKSDA has received a report from the sub-district head regarding wild elephants approaching residents' settlements in the area.

The Aceh BKSDA must arrange for the deployment of officers because the number of personnel is limited, while cases of wild elephant disturbances tend to increase from time to time.

The Aceh BKSDA has sent personnel who reside in Lamlo Subdistrict and CRU in Mila Subdistrict to help overcome the disturbance of wild elephants and work with partners and residents to herd wild elephants that enter the Tiro, Beungga, and Mane areas.

Kamaruzzaman said habitat destruction had pushed wild elephants into plantations and residential areas.

"The path that these animals usually take is now no longer the same because it has changed its function due to the actions of the community," he said.

He appealed to the public to take part in protecting the forest and wildlife habitat so that wild animals do not leave their habitat.
