JAKARTA - The National Police seems to have handed over the enforcement of health protocol violations during the 2020 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) to the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu).

The statement was in response to the issue of accusations by the National Police of selectively taking action in handling cases of health protocols.

Because, lately there have also been many crowds during the 2020 Pilkada, one of which is when President Joko Widodo's son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, registered as a candidate for mayor of Solo.

"Don't confuse the case, this is the story now about the pilkada registration phasing. It's a regional election, who is the supervisor (Bawaslu)," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Awi Setiyono to reporters, Wednesday, November 18.

Awi said, in handling violations during the elections, the National Police was involved in the Integrated Law Enforcement Center (Gakkumdu). But the one with the highest authority is Bawaslu.

"Yes, the process is there, the law is there, the regulation is there. So it's still case by case, don't be generalized," he said.

Previously, Secretary of DPP FPI Legal Aid, Aziz Yanuar, stated that Rizieq was willing to be summoned by the police for clarification regarding the alleged violation of the health protocol during his daughter's marriage.

But on condition that the Police are willing to investigate similar cases that occurred in Solo and Surabaya.

"If for example it meets two conditions, the first is legally logical and has a logical legal relevance, the two principles of justice are applied as in Solo and Surabaya," said Aziz.
