Central Sulawesi Provincial Government Allocates IDR 6 Billion To Finance Workers In 300 Disadvantaged Villages

SULTENG - The Provincial Government of Central Sulawesi (Sulteng) has allocated a regional budget of Rp. 6 billion to finance the poor and workers in 300 underdeveloped villages through insurance.

"In our APBD, we have allocated a budget of more than IDR 6 billion for insurance for the poor and workers in 300 disadvantaged villages in Central Sulawesi," said Central Sulawesi Governor Rusdy Masturadi at the Central Sulawesi Governor's Office in Palu, Central Sulawesi, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, August 16.

Insurance for the poor and workers in 300 villages, said Rusdy, is a form of government concern for the lower middle class.

The Central Sulawesi Provincial Government cooperates with BPJS Employment and BPJS Health to provide social security/insurance to the community.

"BPJS should socialize this program to the community, district and city governments, and village governments," he added.

He said the Central Sulawesi Provincial Government is currently in the form of increasing regional fiscal, so that the lower middle class people spread across 1,800 villages in Central Sulawesi can be financed by the government related to insurance.

The governor appealed to regents and mayors in Central Sulawesi to guarantee protection for the lower middle class people in their respective regions.

"Regents should encourage village heads to allocate a budget of Rp. 20 million for community insurance," he said.

Regarding this, the Head of BPJS Employment in Central Sulawesi, Raden Harry Agung Cahya, said that currently there are several districts that are collaborating with BPJS Employment to implement social security insurance for rural communities including Poso District, Buol District and Sigi District.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Central Sulawesi Village Community Empowerment Service (PMD) Moh Nadir said he would prepare a draft of the cooperation agreement between the Central Sulawesi Provincial Government and BPJS Employment for social protection in the form of insurance for the lower middle class in the village.
