DPR Produces 43 Laws, Puan Maharani: Prioritize Quality Over Quantity

JAKARTA - Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, said that the Indonesian House of Representatives and the government have made 43 laws over the past three years.

This was conveyed by Puan when delivering a Speech for the First Session of the 2022-2023 Session at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, today, Tuesday, August 16.

"Since 2019 until now, a number of laws have been discussed by the DPR RI together with the government, a total of 43 laws," said Puan in her speech broadcast on the DPR RI YouTube.

"The politics of legislation in the DPR RI and the government prioritize the quality over the quantity of the law," he continued.

Puan reminded the importance of commitment between lawmakers, namely the DPR RI and the government. Moreover, they have to work collectively.

Not only that, together with the government, the DPR RI is also required to consider many things before passing legislation. They ensure that people's aspirations will be absorbed.

"Performance in the formation of laws is a joint performance between the DPR RI and the government," said Puan.

"In the discussion to form a law for the DPR RI and the government are required to always be careful and take into account the opinions, views, conditions, situations, needs of national law and open space for people's participation to express their aspirations," added the chairman of the PDIP DPP.

The following are the laws that have been successful by the DPR RI and the government:

1. Commission I and Representatives of the Government, have completed 2 (two) Laws;

2. Commission II and Government Representatives, have completed 16 (sixteen) Laws;

3. Commission III and Government Representatives, have completed 4 (four) Laws;

4. Commission V and Government Representatives, have completed 1 (one) Law;

5. Commission VI and Government Representatives, have completed 3 (three) Laws;

6. Commission VII and Government Representatives, have completed 1 (one) Law;

7. Commission X and Government Representatives, have completed 2 (two) Laws;

8. Commission XI and Government Representatives, have completed 4 (four) Laws;

9. Legislation Agency and Government Representatives, have completed 6 (six) Laws;

10. The Budget Agency and Government Representatives, have completed 1 (one) Law other than the Law on State Revenue and Expenditure Budget;

11. The DPR RI Special Committee and Government Representatives have completed 3 (three) laws.
