JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, said that more attention should be paid to the younger generation of Indonesia. The State Civil Apparatus (ASN) is no exception, which now amounts to 3.9 million people.

According to Puan, ASN must understand the bureaucratic reform related to structuring the government administration system better. He also advised the millions of ASN to become a capital of strength in accelerating Indonesia's progress.

"State civil servants must leave the attitude of "justifying the usual" and start with a new spirit, namely "getting used to the right"," said Puan in her introductory speech to the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD in the Plenary Room, Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday 16 August.

This was conveyed by Puan in relation to her proposal regarding the development of Indonesia in order to realize the welfare of the people and the progress of the nation.

Puan said this effort should be carried out by integrating all regions, both central and regional governments.

From there, he continued, the strategic agenda in the future needs to be strengthened and sharpened with the steps that have been scheduled.

"Directed at: development of the quality and national character of Indonesian people; development of national food sovereignty; strengthening of national industry; equitable distribution of infrastructure development; and real bureaucratic reform," said Puan.

On that occasion, Puan also mentioned that equitable distribution of infrastructure in all regions of Indonesia requires mutual attention. He also asked the community to guard him for mutual progress.

The Joint Session of the DPR and DPD in its implementation coincides with the 2022 MPR Annual Session. In that session, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to deliver two state speeches.

President Jokowi will deliver his first speech at the MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD.

The first speech was in the context of submitting performance reports of state institutions as well as speeches on the 77th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

Furthermore, President Jokowi will deliver an introductory speech or government statement on the Bill on the State Budget for Fiscal Year 2023 and its financial notes after 13.00 WIB.
