No Presidential Candidates, No Stable Coalition Including KIB And Gerindra-PKB

JAKARTA - A number of political parties have formed a coalition for the 2024 presidential election. Golkar, PAN and PPP with the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB), following Gerindra and PKB which were ratified through a cooperation charter on Saturday, August 13, yesterday. Although coalitions of political parties have emerged, but no presidential candidate (candidate) has been declared by the coalition. It is judged that the coalition can still change. The Executive Director of Indonesia Political Opinion (IPO) Dedi Kurnia Syah, said the coalition of parties that had been formed would continue to be dynamic as long as there were no presidential candidates officially registered with the General Elections Commission (KPU). This means, he said, the coalition of political parties could change, including KIB and the Gerindra-PKB coalition.

"As long as there are no figures registered with the KPU as participants in the 2024 presidential election, then the dynamics of the coalition are still unstable," said Dedi in Jakarta, Monday, August 15.

According to Dedi, the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) is the coalition of parties most at risk of splitting. This is based on the absence of potential internal figures.

"KIB is the coalition that is most vulnerable to splitting, this is related to the absence of a potential leader, in contrast to PDIP which has prepared Puan Maharani, or Gerindra and Prabowo," he said.

However, Dedi assessed, the constellation of the 2024 General Election is still uncertain until the party or coalition declares a candidate to compete in the 2024 Presidential Election.

"The 2024 constellation is uncertain, at least until 2023 when the party declares its potential figures," he explained.

According to him, this dynamic can also be seen from several parties that have not declared candidates, such as PDIP. And there is NasDem which has not chosen a candidate name. "Even now, including PDIP, neither of them have declared a presidential candidate," said Dedi.
