JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has quickly completed the construction of the 277-meter Shortcut Bridge over the Yeh Otan River.

This bridge will be a shortcut connecting two villages in Tabanan Regency, Bajera Village (Selemadeg District) and Antosari Village (West Selemadeg District). The goal is to reduce lanes that become accident-prone areas (black spots).

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said increasing accessibility and connectivity of the road infrastructure network to provide smooth, safe, secure, and comfortable rides for motorists.

"Improved road access will also support the economy of the surrounding community," said Minister Basuki in his statement, Monday, August 15.

The construction of this bridge is carried out by the Central Java-Bali National Road Implementation Center (BBPJN) of the Ministry of PUPR in the 2021-2022 budget year. Until now, based on data, the physical progress of the construction is 83.79 percent.

This bridge was also built to shorten the distance from Denpasar to Gilimanuk Harbor and reduce the number of accidents that often occur on the throat route of the Bajera - Antosari road section.

Not only that, the construction of this bridge will also support improving the smooth connectivity of tourist routes on the Island of the Gods, because right around the bridge location there are tourist sites such as Loka Beach, Belimbing Rice Terrace to Sing-Sing Waterfall.

The construction of the Denpasar – Gilimanuk Bridge (TK. Yeh Otan) was carried out by contractors PT Modern Surya Jaya and PT Pramana Arta Raharja, KSO worth Rp59 billion and supervision consultants PT Tata Guna Patria, PT Eskapindo Matra and PT Gaharu Sempana.

This bridge is the fourth shortcut to be built on the Denpasar-Gilimanuk Main Line in the Tabanan area. Previously, three shortcuts had been built in 2014. First, a shortcut in Samsam Village, Kerambitan District, Tabanan with a length of 270 meters above the highway and the Nusa River. This 24-meter-high shortcut was built from the south of the Samsam Workshop Office in Banjar Penyalin until it penetrated into Banjar Samsam.

Second, a shortcut on the Yeh Ho River that connects Meliling Village and Banjar Pucuk, Bantas Village. This Yeh Po River shortcut is 42 meters long and 9.5 meters wide, with a height of 29 meters.

Third, a shortcut at the Kresek Bend, Megati Village, East Selemadeg District. Shortcut in the form of this bridge was built 200 meters long with a height of 24 meters. The Keresek Bend Shortcut was built from Banjar Bunut Puhun, Bantas Village, Selemadeg Timur District (west border) to Megati Village Police Post (east side).
