SUMSEL - The 2022 Super Garuda Shield Combat Exercise involving 13 countries in Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, South Sumatra (South Sumatra) for 14 days was officially closed today, Sunday 14 August.

"Today, the 2022 Super Garuda Shield joint exercise is officially closed," said Dankodiklat TNI Army Lt. Gen. Ignatius Yogo Triyono during the closing of the Super Garuda Shield Exercise at Puslatpur Baturaja, OKU Regency, South Sumatra, quoted from Antara, Sunday, August 14.

He said the activities which were participated in by Indonesia, the United States, Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Papua New Guinea, South Korea, India, Timor Leste, Canada, France and the UK from August 1-14, 2022 took place safely and smoothly.

In fact, he said, at the peak of the exercise which was held on Friday, August 12, it was reviewed and witnessed directly by the TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa together with the leadership of the US Army, the Commander of the Indo Pacific Command Admiral, John C Aguilino.

At the peak of the exercise, TNI soldiers showed a stunning appearance by skillfully operating the new and sophisticated defense equipment belonging to the Indonesian Army.

The weapons and advanced defense equipment used include the 105 KH 178 cannon, the 105 M119 cannon, the AH-64 Apache helicopter, the UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter, the Helly Bell 412, ASTROS, HIMARS, MO 60 and MO 81.

Meanwhile, the personnel involved in the Combined Arms Life Fire Exercise at the peak of yesterday's exercise consisted of 698 Indonesian Army personnel, 750 US ARMY personnel and 88 Australian personnel.

Through this joint exercise with Super Garuda Shield, it is hoped that all Indonesian Army soldiers will become more proficient on the battlefield and can share knowledge and experience with other soldiers from friendly countries.
