Belitung Towards The World's Mangrove Tourism Destinations

JAKARTA - The existence of mangrove forests on Belitung Island, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, not only prevents erosion and abrasion of the coastline, but also becomes a paradise for tourists to travel to enjoy the natural beauty of the rainbow army.

The wealth and natural beauty of Belitung Island has been known to foreign countries such as Geoparks that have been recognized by Unesco, Tanjung Kelayang SEZ to 750 year old mangrove forests which are the oldest mangrove ecosystems in the world.

Belitung which is currently included in 10 popular tourist destinations in Indonesia also has a variety of interesting tourist attractions, ranging from island tours, beaches, history, culinary, museums, caves and shopping tours.

Not only that, the G20 Development Ministerial meeting on 7 - 9 September 2022 on Belitung Island is a great opportunity to introduce Belitung's mangrove tourism and tourism to the world.

Deputy for Coordination of Environmental and Forestry Management at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs, Nani Hendiarti, said that the mangrove debt of Belitung Island is not only a destination for world tourists but is also visited by researchers and engineers from around the world.

"Regarding the mangrove program, we bring good news, Belitung is a strong candidate for cooperation with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a Mangrove Research Centre," he said, quoted by Antara, Sunday.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, is optimistic that the natural beauty of Belitung Island will be able to penetrate the Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN) 2022.

Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN) 2022 is very important to promote tourism destinations, increase tourist visits from various countries in the world and be able to empower local potential.

With the increasing number of tourists visiting from various countries, of course, it will also have a positive impact on the economic, social and cultural growth of this rainbow army. Moreover, Belitung will be the venue for the G20 which is a great opportunity for local governments to introduce this natural beauty.

Guests at the G20 Development Ministerial level after returning to their countries are expected to convey to the people in their respective countries about Indonesian tourism, especially Belitung which is very beautiful, safe and comfortable for traveling.
