11 Thousand Raising Scouts Join The National Jamboree At Buperta Cibubur

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Scout Movement Kwarnas Budi Waseso said as many as 11 thousand Raising Scouts from all regions in Indonesia participated in the National Jamboree which was held at Campground and Scout Tourism Graha (Buperta) Cibubur, East Jakarta.

"The purpose of this National Jamboree is to shape attitudes and behavior, increase independence, skills, unity and integrity of the Penggalang Scouts and commitment to the appreciation and practice of the Scout Honorary Code, namely Satya and Darma Scouts," Budi said in a written statement quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, August 13.

The event, which was held from 14 to 21 August 2022, carried a theme "Cheerful, Dedicated and Achieved". Where the opening ceremony will be held on Sunday (14/8) at 08.00 WIB in conjunction with the 61st anniversary of Scouting Day.

Budi said the activity would take place in compliance with applicable health protocols in accordance with the provisions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants must have received the second stage of vaccination and include the results of a PCR or antigen swab test in accordance with government policies regarding travel from their respective regions to Cibubur, Jakarta.

The number of Raising Scouts who will attend the preparation of the National Jamboree is 11,506 people who are representatives of branch quarters in districts/cities, Gudep based at the Indonesian Embassy and envoys of Scout organizations in the Asia Pacific region.

The purpose of the event is to achieve the Scout target, namely spiritual, emotional, social, intellectual and physical (sesosive) development in order to form human beings with character, noble character and independence by engaging in activities in the camp.

There are hundreds or about 80 percent of Jamnas activities that take place in Buperta Cibubur. While the other 20 percent, carried out outside the Cibubur main camp.

Some of the events mentioned are scouting skills, sustainable development villages, technology villages, adventure activities, raising forums, brotherhood games and educational tours in the city of Jakarta.

The activities held are also educational, recreational, creative, productive, innovative, competitive, and challenging, because they use the basic principles and methods of scouting as outlined in the form of games, discussions, demonstrations, simulations and competitions.

"Mr. President Joko Widodo as the Chairman of the Scout National Advisory Council (Mabinas) cannot open Jamnas which is held every five years. But he promised to see the activity and come personally to the location of the National Jamboree," said Budi after meeting the President on Friday (12/8) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.
