JAKARTA - Semarang Polrestabes explained that the discovery of the body of an unidentified man in a water channel in front of the Central Java Provincial Government Library Building, Jalan Sriwijaya, Semarang City, Thursday, August 11, was a victim of a hit and run.

"From the results of the examination of witnesses and CCTV, it turns out that the victim was hit while exercising and then fell," said Semarang Police Chief Kombes Irwan Anwar in Semarang, Friday, August 12, quoted from Antara.

The victim was identified as Hendro Margo Raharjo (60), a resident of Tegalsari Perbalan, Candisari District, Semarang City.

Meanwhile, the perpetrator of the hit-and-run is known to have the initials GP (28), a resident of Palebon, Semarang City.

He explained that the accident occurred at around 05.00 WIB.

"The victim was running in the morning, then he was hit by the perpetrator who was driving a Toyota Yaris," he said.

According to the perpetrator, the incident occurred when he checked the notification on his cell phone.

The perpetrator himself realized he had hit something and got down to check it out. Feeling that he did not find the object he hit, the perpetrator then continued his journey.

The victim himself suffered a laceration to the head.
